The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Commission of Inquiry (COI) into the sexual harassment of female referees by match officials and administrators has gotten underway, with several female referees testifying before the five member panel.
Although the inquiry got off to a poor start on March 24th at the Olympic House, Liliendaal following a no-show by referees, sources close to the inquiry disclosed that several refs have given testimony on their experiences.
According to the sources, “Roughly about eight females have given testimony on their respective experiences and it is basically the same sentiments were expressed about the harassment experienced and the incompetence of the officials.
Much more is expected to take the stand soon.”
The sources further disclosed, “To the best of my knowledge at-least two male referees have given testimony to date.”
The all-female commission comprises Chairman and former Normalization Committee member Dr. Karen Pilgrim, Vice President of the Guyana Olympic Association, Dr. Melissa Ifill of the University of Guyana, Karen Joseph, Human Resources Consultant, Karen De Souza, Red Thread and Joy Nichola Marcus-Red, also of Red Thread.
