La Bonne Intention Secondary (LBI) romped to a 103-run win over Ann’s Grove Secondary at the Lusignan Community Center Ground, East Coast Demerara yesterday as the 2017/2018 Guyana Cricket Board/ Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society Limited/ National Sport Commission/National Secondary School Cricket League (GCB/DMLAS/NSC/NSSCL) continued.
LBI were sent in to bat by Ann’s Grove who failed to pick up a wicket in the 20 over contest as LBI posted 173-0 and the skittled out Ann’s Grove for 53 in 15.2 overs.
Ravindra Samaroo top scored with 63 while Brian Jagmohan also scored a half century as they sunk into the sub-par bowling.
Samaroo struck seven fours and one six while Jagmohan’s 57 consisted of two fours and two sixes. In reply, Jagmohan took 5-23 while his opening partner, Samaroo captured three wickets to help his side win the match comfortably.
On Monday Friendship Secondary defeated Soesdyke Secondary by 38 runs at the GNIC ground, Woolford Avenue while East Bank Essequibo Secondary schools and Leguan Secondary (EBELS) combined snatched a one run win over Wakenaam and Bartica Secondary Combined (WBSC).
Friendship Secondary won the toss, elected to bat first and cautiously notched their way to 114 all out off 16.3 of their allotted 30 while Soesdyke struggled to 76 all out from 14.3 overs.
Friendship’s middle order batsman, Adrian Lim top scored with 40 while Rondel Kaltow was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 12.
In reply, Soesdyke’s Noel Henry was the only Soesdyke player to reach double figures with 17. Kaltow returned with the ball to pick up 4-7 from only three overs while Damion Smith and Johnathan Jagdeo grabbed 3 for 26 and 2 for 20 respectively.
Meanwhile, over at the Wakenaam ground, EBELS defended 86 to steal a one run win over WBSC. WBSC won the toss and decided to bowl after the rains forced the contest to a 30 over match from its original 50.
WBSC bowled well to restrict EBELS to 86 in 18.2 overs. Wazim Mohammed’s 26 was the backbone of the innings along with Ronaldo Scouten and Jamal Sahoye who made 10 each.
Hamel Lam bamboozled the batsmen grabbing 5-24. He was supported by Rickey Persaud’s 3-21 and Devindra Hansraj’s 1-7.
