A labourer was yesterday remanded to prison after he was accused of robbing a man he knows of a car valued at $2.2 million and other items.
Twenty-eight-year-old Edwin Angus was read the armed robbery charge by Magistrate Fabayo Azore which stated that on March 14, at Princes Street, in company of others and armed with a gun, he robbed Anthony Pickett of a Toyota car, valued at $2.2 million, a $35,000 LG phone, and $7,000 in cash. Angus denied the allegation.
The prosecutor then objected to the accused being granted bail.
When granted the opportunity, the defendant told the court that he knows the complainant and would never be part of a robbery. He added that at the time of the crime he was at home.
He was, later remanded to prison.
The matter was adjourned to May 30.
