(Trinidad Express) employee Rostan Mahabir sustained severe internal injury when he was shot during a robbery on Monday.
The bullet that pierced Mahabir’s abdomen damaged his kidney.
Mahabir’s friends have taken to social media and issued an appeal for blood donors.
Mahabir was helped by passersby at the scene of the shooting and taken to the San Fernando General Hospital.
Mahabir, 28, of Carapichaima, was shot during a robbery on Penitence Street, San Fernando around 8a.m.
He was walking to his workplace at the San Fernando branch of Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago Limited when he was attacked.
Mahabir had parked his vehicle in the branch’s car park and was walking towards the doors of the bank when the thief pulled the strap of the laptop bag.
Police were told that Mahabir pulled back and the thief shot him in the abdomen. The thief ran down Penitence Street, then ran towards San Fernando Street.
Officers were uncertain whether the thief entered a vehicle during the escape.
