Uraj Ramdin, the Lusignan mechanic who was shot by a home invader on Sunday night during a Mother’s Day celebration at his mother’s Mon Repos residence is currently hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
His wife, Pam Ramdin yesterday told Stabroek News that he was moved to the ICU on Monday after he underwent emergency surgery to remove the bullet. Ramdin was shot in the left side of the jaw, and the bullet lodged in the back of his head.
Ramdin’s mother, Jean Ramdin, yesterday said that the family believes that the bandit went to her Martyrsville, Mon Repos, ECD, residence in search of her tenants.
“I don’t know what is it… but when I talk to the tenant she said that the man tell she ‘I come to kill you’”, Jean said.
She explained further, that when the man entered their premises he held on to one of the tenants and pointed the gun at her, but she managed to escape and hide.
Jean stated further that as the lone gunman entered the yard he fired a shot and pointed the gun at a younger son.
“Uraj thought he brother get shot, so he was running coming and I tried to keep he back but same time he open the door and come to the grill a man with a mask shoot him and he fall down in the house,” the mother recalled.
She also noted that she has not slept at her home since the shooting as she is fearful that the gunman might return.
Police Commander Edmond Cooper yesterday explained that investigators are still working to crack the case. He noted that while they have not arrested anyone, they are working with the little information they have.
