Annandale Secondary got the better of Golden Grove yesterday in the Regional Democratic Council (RDC)/Devcon Construction/Lloyd Britton/Regional Executive Officer (REO) Region Four Inter-Secondary schools cricket competition at the Enmore Community Center, East Coast Demerara.
Winning the toss and electing to field, Golden Grove limited Annandale to 145 in 26.4 overs but could only muster 36 all out in the first innings and the follow on was enforced.
Annandale with two national youth players in the side started positively but lost Guyana Under-15 player, Chanderpaul Ramraj for 13 as he skied a delivery up in the air.
Evald Hendricks followed soon after for 10 while Fardeen Mohamed picked up his second wicket in two overs by removing skipper, Daniel Prashad.
A 55-run partnership between national player, Romel Datterdeen and Mahendra Singh saw Annandale recovering well but Datterdeen was run out for 19.
Singh went on to raise his half century, an unbeaten 55 consisting of four boundaries.
Off spinner, Kareem Caesar picked up three wickets, missing out on a hat trick ending with 3-17 while Mohammed ended with 3-34.
When Golden Grove batted, John Roopnarine dismissed both openers without a run on the board and took a third wicket as Golden Grove slumped to 19-5.
Only Rahul Heymraj and Cayden Ferguson managed to reach double figures before Ramraj, the wicket keeper in the match, took a hat trick.
Roopnarine supported with 3-12 while Datterdeen and Prashad picked up two wickets each.
Over at the Everest Cricket Club ground, Camp Road, another national player Pradesh Balkishun scored a blistering century to set up a win on first innings points for Bladen Hall Secondary over Buxton Secondary.
Bladen Hall took first strike with Balkishun sharing an 84-run opening stand with Venkatesh Armogan who made 13.
He then added a further 82-run stand with Permaul Armogan who made 14.
Balkishun ended on 139 as Bladen Hall reached 215 all out with the help of 42 extras.
Balkishun’s innings came from 80 balls and included 18 fours and four sixes.
Keron Sutton was the pick of the bowlers with 5-27 while Shamer Yaw picked up 3-32 and Darendra Lall 2-62.
In reply, Shawn Cudjoe took 6-23 as Buxton were dismissed for 37, with 15 extras.
Bladen Hall enforced the follow on and Buxton reached 46-7 in the remaining eight overs of play with Roberto Thomas bagging 4-4 from two overs.
