Guyana will be represented in four disciplines by 11 athletes at this year’s South American Games scheduled from May 26 to June 8 in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Badminton, Boxing, Table Tennis and Track and Field were the disciplines named by Chef-De-Mission, Keavon Bess in which the local athletes will be vying for spots on the podium.
Bess disclosed that Narayan Ramdhani (Badminton), boxers, Keevin Allicock and Colin Lewis, table tennis players Shemar Britton, Chelsea Edghill, Natalie Cummings and Trenace Lowe along with track and field athletes, Jenea McCammon, Winston George, Akeem Stewart and Leslain Baird will be the ones donning the national colors.
Terrence Poole (boxing) and Robert Chisholm (Track and Field) were named as the coaches who will be part of the traveling contingent.
Bess said he is scheduled to depart on May 22 while the locally-based athletes and coaches will wing out on May 24.
This year will mark the 11th edition of the South American Games. The first Games were held in 1978 in La Paz, Bolivia. They have since been held every four years, with the most recent edition in 2014 in Santiago, Chile.
