A South Ruimveldt man was yesterday granted bail after he denied assaulting a policeman.
Prince Pickering, 26, was brought into the city courtroom of Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman, who read the assault charge to him.
The charge stated that on February 24th, 2018, at Cornhill Street, Pickering assaulted Police Constable Julius Dias, who was acting in the execution of his duties.
Pickering denied the charge and he was granted his release on $50,000 bail.
Pickering later made a request for a bail reduction, citing the fact that he has to take care of his handicapped sister and that he had only recently lost his mother.
Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore, however, objected to a bail reduction being granted and Pickering’s request was denied. The matter has been adjourned until June 4th.
