Alim Ally, the Lusignan Prison inmate who was charged with making calls to 911 and threatening to kill President David Granger, yesterday pleaded guilty to multiple counts of threatening language and to one count of causing public terror.
A Guyana Police Force statement yesterday said Ally, who is currently serving a five-year sentence at the Lusignan Prison, was sentenced to one month on each of the three threatening language charges brought against him and six months on the causing public terror charge.
The sentences were imposed by Magistrate Peter Hugh at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court, where Ally changed the not guilty pleas he had initially entered in relation to the charges.
Police had said that in November, 2017, Ally made 911 calls from the Lusignan Prison to the Brickdam Police Station and threatened to shoot and kill President Granger.
The calls were made at three different times of the day and spoke to three different operators from three different stations between November 10th and November 19th.
