Annandale Secondary will clash with Hope Secondary in the semifinal of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC)/Devcon Construction/ Lloyd Britton/Regional Executive Officer (REO) Inter-Secondary Schools knockout competition after rain washed out yesterday’s match between Annandale and Bladen Hall Secondary.
At the Lusignan Community Center Ground, the highly anticipated clash between Annandale and Bladen Hall Secondary Schools was abandoned after an eventful seven balls. Annandale had won the toss and elected to field.
Pradesh Balkishun, fresh off a blistering hundred was out attempting a single off the final ball of the first wicket to set the tone before rain had the final say with the score 6-1 from seven balls.
Annandale advanced to the semifinal after an outright win earned them 12 points compared to the 10 points Bladen Hall received in the first round.
Meanwhile, at the Enmore Community Center ground, Hope and Beterverwagting Secondary Schools had their match abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Soesdyke Secondary, however, secured a win on the coin toss over Plaisance Secondary at Everest Cricket Club, Camp Road.
Earlier, at the Enmore Dora Secondary got the better of Covent Garden Secondary on first innings points with Scott Singh claiming the best figures of the competition to date.
Dora won the toss and decided to bowl, rattling out Covent Garden for 71 in 12.4 overs.
Kevin Tulsie removed Donald Lyte with the first ball of the innings and Dexter Patterson was the only batsman to show any fight with 26 inclusive of three sixes. He shared a 39-run stand with Richard Blake who made 10.
Singh bagged 7-12 in three overs, was on a hat trick twice and clean bowled five of the batsmen.
Dora added the first innings points with a solid 130-8 in 15 overs at the close of play.
Brian Mohamed and Alex Leat added 45 runs for the opening stand with both batsmen falling five runs apart for eight and 19 respectively. Noah Singh and Scott Singh added 40 for the third wicket with Blake removing Scott Singh for a top score of 30 including two sixes and three fours while Noah Singh was found short of his crease on the next delivery for 11.
Sherwin Williams was unbeaten on 22 but George Younge ripped through the lower order with a staggering 4-10 from three overs.
