Elton ‘The Guyanese Gladiator’ (TGG) Dharry continued his march up the bantamweight ranks with a unanimous victory over a game Mexican, Oscar Mojica in Queens, New York Friday Night.
Dharry won the 10-round affair, 98-92, 98-92 and 95-94 on the scorecards to improve his record to 22 wins, five losses and one draw.
The Brooklyn-based 32-year-old told Stabroek Sport yesterday that he was elated to continue his win streak in fine form which now stands at 20.
“He had his moments early in the fight,” TGG said of his opponent. “But I was trying to knock him out in round six but he is a tough fighter.”
Dharry said his polished performance will move him further up in the top 15 of the world rankings.
Dharry, who last fought here in January, said he plans to be back in the ring in July possibly in Guyana or in North America.
“For now I plan to do something small before August, but definitely before the year end want something big, so we will try to stay busy and perhaps get a big fight year end.” His ultimate aim in 2018 or early next year, is to land a world title shot. (Emmerson Campbell)
