Diamond Secondary thrashed Friendship Secondary by 65 runs to win the East Bank Zone while Chase Academic Foundation snatched a 28-run win over North Georgetown Secondary (HGS) to win the Georgetown district title at the Everest Cricket Club ground yesterday in the 2017/2018 Guyana Cricket Board/ Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society Limited/ National Sport Commission/National Secondary School Cricket League (GCB/DMLAS/NSC/NSSCL).
In a 15 overs-a-side affair, Diamond, batting first reached 146-7 with national youth batsman, Mavindra Dindyal playing another blistering innings.
He smashed 10 fours and four sixes in making 85, taking 22 runs off the opening over.
Dindyal and Akeem Hendricks put on 85 runs for the first wicket before Jonathan Jagdeo removed Hendricks for nine.
Jagdeo was the pick of the bowler with 3-25 figures.
In reply, skipper Philip McTurk and Josh Charles routed the Friendship side for 81 with an over to go.
Friendship looked as if they would not reach 50 but a 40-run stand between Sherven Henry and Elisha Crawford saw their team move from 31-5 to 71 at the end of the partnership.
Henry added a responsible 32 with five fours and a six while Crawford fell for 20.
McTurk took 4-10 and Charles 4-13.
Earlier in the day, Chase posted 117-7 from their 20 overs before limiting NGS to 89-3.
Tameshwar Permaul and Sachin Singh laid the foundation with 18 and 17 respectively while Dwain Dick and Orlando Giddings chipped in with cameos of 23 and 19 runs respectively.
Shivanand Gossai took 3-11 and Wayne Bollers 2-26.
In reply NGS skipper Bollers finished unbeaten on 41 while Afelie Henry was 19 not out.
Giddings and Dick picked up one wicket each.
