Marian Academy defeated Presidents’ College under controversial circumstances in their U19 matchup when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) ‘Regional Conference’ continued yesterday.
The marquee clash at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue ended abruptly when the Presidents’ College coach led his team off the court after receiving his second technical foul for bad behavior.
The coordinators then awarded the match to Marian Academy after they had converted the technical foul from the free-throw line.
Meanwhile, Chase Academy mauled Presidents’ College 29-11 in the U14 section.
Omary Kewley recorded 23 points, five rebounds and as many steals while Gamalid Noel tallied seven points and five rebounds for President’s College.
Marian Academy downed St. Rose’s High 21-16 in another U14 matchup. Lamar Austin tallied seven points and five steals, while Elan Rahaman added five points and as many rebounds.
For the Church Road unit, Hailie Caesar accumulated seven points and nine rebounds while Chris Perez added five points. In the final match of the division, Bishops’ High crushed YBG Clusters 11-2.
Shamar Bruce top scored with six points and five rebounds, while Matthias Arrindel added five points. In the girls division, Marian Academy dismantled St. Rose’s High 39-5.
Jada Mohan recorded a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds while Kelian Sauers added 14 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Ashley Khan scored three of the five points for the losing team.
