A 30-year-old labourer was on Friday charged with forging a vehicle registration certificate and a licence plate.
It is alleged that Pablo Joseph on May 14th at Camp Street, Georgetown, with intent to defraud, uttered two forged vehicle registration certificates for PLL 7715, purporting same to be issued by the agency while knowing that they were forged, to a clerk at the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA).
It was further alleged that on the same date, Joseph fraudulently imitated licence plate PLL 7715 on a vehicle already registered as PRR 6691.
Joseph pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Police allege that Joseph went to the GRA’s office on Camp Street to renew the licence for PLL 7715 and presented two certificates of vehicle registration with the owner being listed as Isha Killikelly. The clerk then reviewed the certificates and discovered that the vehicle was registered to another person. An investigation of the car subsequently uncovered that it belonged to Yvette Fiedtkou and that it was stolen in 2014
Magistrate Leron Daly subsequently granted Joseph his release on a total of $100,000 bail for the charges and adjourned the proceedings until June 8th.
