Joel Alleyne produced the biggest upset of the Open men’s singles division of the Guyana Table Tennis Association national championships yesterday when he defeated US-based Matthew Khan in the opening round of the last eight round robin finals.
Alleyne defeated Khan, one of the pre-tournament favourites, 11-4, 15-17, 11-1, and 11-3.
After three rounds, defending champion Christopher Franklin and Shemar Britton were in the lead with three wins while Khan, Alleyne and Colin France had two wins.
