Paul Smith, a Thomas Street, Kitty man, who police say was found with 10 pounds of cannabis in his home, was yesterday remanded to prison.
Smith, 45, of Lot 108 Thomas Street, Kitty, denied the charge that on May 18th, 2018, at Kitty, he had 4.934 kilogrammes (equivalent to 10.8 pounds) of cannabis in his possession for trafficking.
The charge was read to the accused by Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman in Georgetown.
Police prosecutor Arvin Moore objected to bail being granted. He stated that on the day in question, ranks from the police anti-narcotics unit went to Smith’s home and conducted a search that uncovered two salt bags in the lower flat containing the drugs.
Attorney George Thomas, who represented the accused, stated that his client does not reside on the lower flat but the upper flat of the building.
Smith was then remanded to prison until June 11th, when his next hearing is scheduled.
