Friendship Secondary moved one step closer in their hunt for the title in the inaugural Regional Democratic Council (RDC)/ Lloyd Britton/ Devcon Construction/ Regional Executive Officer (REO) Region Four Inter-Secondary Schools Knockout competition after they advanced to the semi-finals on first innings points when they faced Soesdyke Secondary at Everest Cricket Club, Camp Road yesterday.
Soesdyke won the toss and chose to bat posting 39 all out while Friendship declared their first innings on 97-6.
Soesdyke played positive cricket in their second innings to close the day at 60-5. Soesdyke lasted all but 43 deliveries in their first innings as no batsman passed eight nor lasted longer than 10 balls.
Extras accumulated the majority of the runs in their innings, accounting for 14 as the Friendship bowlers had a field day. Prince Forde opened with a double strike that saw him removing the top order and finishing with 3-22 from three overs while Damion Smith bagged 3-8 in his three overs and Rondel Kattow who bowled one over to have figures of 3-3, missing out on the hat trick with a turned down appeal for leg before wicket.
Friendship were ruffled early but Adrian Lim who smacked three fours and two sixes top scored with 44, sharing a 60-run stand for the second wicket with Munesh Ramdehol. Kenroy December who ended with 3-13 while John Blair supported with 2-11.
The 32 extras allowed Friendship to have a lead of 58 runs at the declaration.
Soesdyke in their second innings reached 60-5 from just seven overs at the close.
Lennox Crawford finished on 25 while December stroked 15.
Kattow claimed identical first innings figures of 3-3 from two overs.
Today Diamond Secondary and Covent Garden Secondary will battle at the Lusignan Community Center, East Coast Demerara with the winner facing Friendship tomorrow at the same venue.
