Prized pugilist, Keevin Allicock is in the medal round of the bantamweight division at this year’s South American Games currently ongoing in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Following his 3-2 victory against Uruguay’s, Lucas Garcia on Saturday, Allicock is all but assured of at least a bronze medal after clinching a semi-final berth.
According to reports out of Bolivia, last year’s Commonwealth Youth Games silver medalist will be in semifinal action today against Argentina’s Carlos Alanis.
Guyana’s other boxer at the event, Colin Lewis, was scheduled to be in quarterfinal action last night against Venezuelan, Christian Medina.
Once successful, the light welterweight will also have a chance of returning home with hardware.

Note: During the May 26 to June 8 event, Guyana will be represented in four disciplines by 11 athletes.
Badminton, Boxing, Table Tennis and Track and Field are the disciplines. Track and Field action is scheduled to start tomorrow.
This year will mark the 11th edition of the South American Games. The first Games were held in 1978 in La Paz, Bolivia. They have since been held every four years, with the most recent edition in 2014 in Santiago, Chile.
