The Guyana Senior Men’s Basketball Team departed local shores this morning to face-off with host nation Barbados in an international three match series.
The team, which is led by the youngest ever captain of the senior men’s team in 18 year old Stanton Rose, features predominantly local based players.
They are Shane Webster, Anthony Moe, Harold Adams, Orlan Glasgow, Travis Burnett, Dominic Vicente, Timothy Thompson, Nikkoloi Smith, Chris Williams, Domair Gladstone, Travis Belgrave and Kevon Wiggins.
On the management side, Junior Hercules will serve as the Head-Coach, with Dennis Clarke acting in the capacity of Statistician.
Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) President Nigel Hinds is also expected to be a member of the travelling contingent.
Three matches will be contested from June 8th-10th, with the visitors returning to Guyana on the 11th.
The tour will be utilized to select the core of the squad for the impending 2018 Caribbean Basketball Confederation Championships in Suriname, from July 24th-30th.
Guyana is in Group-A, alongside host Suriname, St Lucia, Grenada and St Vincent and the Grenadines. Group-B comprises of Barbados, Bermuda, Antigua & Barbuda, Haiti and Montserrat.
