Ramkumar Jairam and Seon Smith smashed 67 and 53 respectively to see Adventure piling on 183-7 in 10 overs while dismissing Good Hope XI in seven overs for only 89 runs in the fourth round of the Guyana Softball League Unity Cup.
Jairam clobbered eight sixes while Smith played spectator but when given the chance was equally aggressive, stroking four sixes of his own in his team’s victory during the Upper East Coast leg of the competition.
In the same district, Cane Grove defeated Helena Stars by 5 wickets after Avinash Singh’s 42 saw them piling up 113-7 at the end of their allotted overs with Mahesh Boodram who was expensive but picked up key wickets finishing on 3-32 from his two overs.
In reply, Cane Grove coasted to the total with an over to spare. Onkar Narine anchored the innings with a composed 47 inclusive of five fours while Morris Jones added 40 to the total.
Also in the day’s play, Unity Farmers were unable to stop Unstoppable who cruised to an eight wicket win. Farmers were dismissed for 93 with Sean Bristol bagging 4-29 while Kumar Persaud led the chase with a knock of 40.
In the Lower East Coast/ Georgetown/ East Bank/Linden zone. Enforcers got the better of Warriors in the battle of the two Success teams, winning by six wickets. Warriors could only manage 117-7 in their 10 overs with Hemchand John notching up a fine half century but with small cameos from the middle order of the Enforcers, they were able to walk out the victors. Success Youths were schooled by Farm XI in a five wicket loss, only managing 60 runs with Rawle Reid taking 4-17 in two overs.
Diesel XI fell 29 runs short against Speedboat who posted 122-5 in their allotted overs however Marics XI came closer but nevertheless suffered the same faith, losing by five runs at the hands of VP Squad.
Rangers suffered the defeat of the day in the West Demerara zone, going down by 39 runs by Unknown Squad.
Bar-B-Q XI turned the tables on Unknown Squad, beating them by 24 runs while VR All Stars defeated Rangers by eight wickets. In the New Amsterdam/Canje zone Edinburgh posted 109-4 to defeat New Amsterdam Rising Stars by 16 runs with the overs running out while Rotterdam defeated Angoy’s Avenue by 62 runs.
