A teenager is now nursing multiple stab wounds about his body, after he was attacked and robbed on Saturday night while walking along Lombard Street, Charlestown.
Anthony Bartholomew, 19, a labourer of Lot 2 Drysdale Street, Charlestown was stabbed multiple times about his body. He has since undergone emergency surgery and is currently a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Male surgical ward. His condition is listed as stable.
Stabroek News was reliably informed that the incident occurred around 11.05 pm on Saturday, shortly after which a male individual turned up at the Ruimveldt Police station and reportedly admitted to committing the act.
He was taken into custody and is assisting the police with investigations.
Investigation, a police source said revealed that Bartholomew was standing on Lombard Street when he was confronted by a lone suspect.
An argument ensued between the suspect and Bartholomew over a cellular phone and later escalated into a fight. During the process, the suspect dealt Bartholomew several stab wounds about his body.
From his hospital bed yesterday afternoon, Bartholomew related to Stabroek News that he was attacked by two unmasked individuals while he was walking along Lombard Street. “Whilst I walking, when I heading fuh go over High Street soon as I look back suh I see two man appear and the first thing time when them approach, they see …a chain I had on”, Bartholomew said.
He explained, “them buss off the chain and them start choking meh and duh is when them start go in me pocket and them thing. After them see people start coming, then when them run away”, Bartholomew explained. He said he was taken to the hospital after his father learnt of the incident and rushed to the scene.
