Dear Editor,
A packed house at the Guyana High Commission on Thursday – significantly the first anniversary of the Grenfell tragedy turned out to hear that great contemporary Guyanese David Lammy the MP for Tottenham and increasingly for the Caribbean speak eloquently on Grenfell-where he lost a close friend, the Windrush Generation debacle which showed the British Government in frankly a racist light, his ‘Guyaneseness’ (he is a joint passport holder and frequent visitor), his Christian Socialism and much more.
It was a fascinating hour and more moderated by the best known black face on British television-Clive Myrie of the BBC. Jamaican but an honorary Guyanese for the night!
Plenty of meat on that bone. It was recorded and will be podcast. That will be made available to a wider Guyanese audience very soon.
Yours faithfully,
John ‘Bill Cotton/Reform’
