Led by half centuries from Shaheed Mohamed and Sahadeo Hardaiow, Everest Masters defeated the visting Central All Stars of Trinidad and Tobago by 147 runs at Everest Cricket Club yesterday.
Reduced to a 25 overs-a-side contest, Everest blasted 235-4 while the Trinidad side struggled to 88-9 from their allotted overs,
Everest started sketchily, losing former West Indies Under-19 star Tagenarine Chanderpaul without a run on the board but Hemraj Garbarran and Hardaiow put on 84 for the second wicket, and despite losing Garbarran for 27, the tempo was always upbeat.
Young Bhaskar Yadram strolled to the crease, smashed ball after ball for a quick-fire 34 while Hardaiow was brilliantly stumped for a well composed 54.
Kamesh Yadram and Mohamed batted cautiously but laid waste to the final five overs, carting off 70 runs from the 30 deliveries with Mohamed scoring an unbeaten 57 with two sixes, one of which was hit against the breeze and over the fence bracing the seawall road.
Kamesh finished on 42 with a six into the Media Centre Stand to cap off a dominant performance.
Kieron Chattergoon was the pick of the bowlers with 2-47.
In the chase, Central All Stars never got off the ground, losing their first five wickets with just nine runs on the board. In fact, it was only the last three batsmen that scored double figures. Tailan Sital, batting at number 10 top scored with an unbeaten 21 with Richard Hoyte bagging 3-11.
Central All Stars will play their final match of their tour today at the YMCA Ground.
