Haemanthus commonly called Blood Lily is an exotic, tropical perennial that is grown from bulbs. And while you might assume from the name that this flower is red, it can come in white as well as a variety of reds – 60 to be precise.
The Blood Lily is easy to grow. Plant bulbs in an upright position in well-drained soil and water lightly. The soil should be moist, but not soggy. Bulbs sprout in 7 to 14 days with rich, green leaves. The flowers grow in clusters and appear to have small, flat heads. The highlight may very well be its yellow anthers that are bright and complement the red or white appearance well.
