Incoming Deputy Chief Election Officer (DCEO) of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Roxanne Prince-Myers has dismissed the suggestion that her seemingly partisan Facebook posts make her unsuitable for the sensitive post, while saying that attention should instead be given to her strong track record of professionalism.

Residents of the Zeelugt New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo are calling for immediate works to be done to the roads in the community.  The residents say the roads in the Region Three community have been in a deplorable state for approximately seven years and their attempts to have them fixed have proved futile.

Guyana men’s hockey team swept by TT in CAC warm-up series

The Guyana men’s national hockey team closed off their three-match CAC warm-up series against Trinidad and Tobago with another defeat on Sunday.  The match which was played at the National Hockey Centre in Tacarigua saw the South Americans finally getting on the scorecard, losing 2-5 to hand the host a 3-0 series win.  Kristian Emmanuel was the man who opened the scoring for Trinidad in the 7th minute to leave Guyana trailing early on.

Sweden bury World Cup opening jinx to beat South Korea

Town Clerk’s food safety licence lament

It appears that one of Town Clerk Royston King’s difficulties as Head of the Georgetown Municipality’s administration is his lack of understanding of how much the image of his administration depends on the goodwill of the citizenry, a circumstance that is decidedly surprising given the fact that  he had served as the City’s Public Relations Officer immediately prior to being elevated to Town Clerk and would therefore have come to his current job with some understanding of the virtues of image-management.
