Kwakwani Secondary, Linden Technical Institute (LTI) and Mackenzie High secured contrasting wins when the National School Basketball Festival (NSBF) continued on Monday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue.
Kwakwani Secondary edged Plaisance 51-49. Raul Sampson top scored with 19 pointsand five rebounds while Kadeem Dover added 12 points.
For Plaisance, Nigel Bowen tallied up a double-double of 17 points and 18 rebounds while Jared Sears chipped in with 16 points and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, LTI downed Government Technical Institute (GTI) 63-49. Jamal Gilkes led the way for the victors with 23 points and 10 rebounds while Daniel Lee assisted with 23 points and six steals.
For GTI, Oquacey Shortt recorded a game-high 29 points and six rebounds while Darnel Hamer tallied 14 points and nine rebounds.
Similarly, Mackenzie High dismissed President’s College 53-31. Yonnick Tappin led the way for the Lindeners with 17 points and seven steals while Shemar Henry contributed nine points. For President’s College, Akeem Crandon registered 16 points and 23 rebounds.
Also, St. Rose’s High made light work of Marian Academy 32-23. Anthony Yansen bagged 12 points and seven rebounds in the win. For Marian Academy, Jahleel Young tallied 12 points and seven rebounds. The tournament is sponsored by Edward B. Beharry and Company Ltd., Banks DIH Ltd., and the National Sports Commission.
