Following the robbery of a Goed Fortuin, West Coast Demerara (WCD) restaurant on Tuesday night, when the proprietor was relieved of $80,000 cash and two cellular phones, police in ‘D’ Division have arrested two suspects, one of whom was caught in a pit latrine.
Stabroek News understands that the robbery took place around 23.00hrs on Tuesday, when three cutlass-wielding bandits invaded the New Hong Kong Restaurant, located at Lot 22 Public Road, Goed Fortuin, WCD.
While the details surrounding the incident remain sketchy, information revealed that the bandits entered the supermarket, where they held the staff hostage, before proceeding to the proprietor, who they relieved of the cash and two cellphones.
The police were alerted and responded promptly, reportedly combing the area, where they arrested one of the suspects in a latrine. He has since admitted to the crime.
While it was not stated what circumstances led to the arrest of the second suspect, it was related that the third suspect remains on the lam, as the probe continues.
