Two men were robbed on Friday evening when two armed bandits invaded the Perfect You barbershop at D’Urban and Haley streets, Georgetown.
The attack occurred around 10.45 pm at Lot 1919 D’Urban and Haley streets, Georgetown, where barber William Bayley, 32, of Laing Avenue, and Lawrence Payne, 19, who is a football player, of Albouystown, were robbed of their cell phones, a Puma bag and a pair of football pegs.
The items taken were valued at almost $200,000.
Police told Sunday Stabroek that the men were at the barber shop when two masked robbers, one with a handgun and the other with an icepick, entered.
The gunman allegedly held Bayley at gunpoint before relieving him of his cell phone, while the other suspect approached Payne and relieved him of the valuables he had in his possession.
Both the suspects then made their escape on foot.
An investigation has since been launched and several persons in the area have been questioned but no arrests were made up to yesterday afternoon.
