Perennial giant Vehicle Workshop stormed their way into the final of the Michael Perreira Inter-Department dominoes competition following a semi-final victory on Monday at the Thirst Park Sports Club.
The experienced outfit tallied 81 games to defeat Sales Department and Maintenance.
Sales Department earned their berth in the championship match with 76 games while Maintenance finished on 63 games and were eliminated.
The two teams will now face-off with Trisco in the final today at the same venue, after the aforesaid team earned a bye to the championship match.
The first round of proceedings failed to separate the three teams, as each side recorded 11 games.
However, Sales Department took the lead in the second sitting, recording 14 games to end on 25. Maintenance and Vehicle Workshop followed on 22 and 21 games respectively.
It was from the third round that Vehicle Workshop dominated that matchup. The experienced side tallied an impressive 17 games to finish on 38.
Sales Department followed closely behind on 35, while Maintenance recorded a paltry nine games to end on 31.
Vehicle Workshop maintained their lead in the fourth sitting, registering 12 games to conclude on 50. Sales Department also recorded 12 games to keep pace at 47.
Maintenance fell further behind, as they once again managed nine games to end on 40. The lead marginally grew for Vehicle Workshop in the pivotal fifth sitting as they recorded 16 games to sit on 66.
Sales Department continued to battle for the top spot, tallying 15 games to end on 62, while Maintenance added 12 games to their total to finish on 52.
The outcome was then sealed in the final sitting as Vehicle Workshop claimed 15 games. Sales Department ensured their berth in the final, after amassing 14 games. On the other hand, Maintenance ended the match with 11 games.
