The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has commenced preparation to participate in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Boys Under-14 Challenge Trophy and the CONCACAF Girls Under-15 Championship, slated for the month of August with respective encampments.
The encampment for both squads is being held at the Guyana Fire Service Training Facility, Leonora, from July 8th-16th.
The Boys Tournament runs from August 2nd-12th in Curacao. Their provisional squad, which features 35 individuals, comprises Ian Gomes, Dellon Jones, Kimoni Milne, Shoran James, Kevon Scott, Dwayne Bess, Devon Padmore, Neron Barrow, Mark Morgan, Tyrice Dennis, Makhaya Jarvis, Colin Henriques, Samuel Grant, Tyquan Brummel, Joshua Holder, Kevin Mullin, Atwaun Vincent, Aaron Auston, Daniel Lowe, Brandon Solomon, Seon Sue, Jaleel Alcindor, Alexander Davidson, Ofancy Winter, Shavid Hernandez, Lincoln James, Matrim Martin, Daniel Hopkinson, Marcus Tudor, Gerald Whittington, Zidana Ramdeholl, Keishawn Smith, Kwesi Gill, Romel Medas and Oswin Archer.
Bryan Joseph is the Head-Coach for the Boys’ section. Guyana is in Group-C along with Curacao, Bonaire, Trinidad and Tobago and Aruba.
On the other hand, the Girls event will take place during the period of August 6th-13th at the IMG Academy, Florida, USA.
The 34 member female unit, which is marshaled by Akilah Castello, features Sidney Facey, Ludesha Reynolds, Veyansa Hope, Akeela Hodge, Jaida Brooks, Anaya Willabus, Ashaya Doobay, Sara Matthias, Ayana Walker, Melissa Torres, Nikita Wayne, Aliea Moses, Samara Rodrigues, Latesha Sutherland, Amanda McKenzie, Leah Perreira, Hasha Holder, Ronette Grant, Affia Hartman, Samantha Banfield, Mariah Johnson, Anastasia Salvadore, Jenea Knight, Alanna Clarke, Alleia Alleyne, Wendy Holden, Shenika Atkinson, Euriane Mentore, Shauna Edwards, Jalade Trim, Nakasi St. Jules, Shamaya Daniels and Kersti Thomas. The Lady Jaguars have been placed in Group-E alongside Bahamas, Cayman Islands and St. Lucia. They will open their campaign against St. Lucia on August 6th at 11:00hrs, before tackling Cayman Islands the next day at 9:00hrs.
Their final group match against Bahamas will be played on August 9 at 11:00hrs.
A shortlist of the respective squads will be done at the conclusion of the current camp. Two additional encampment periods are scheduled for July 22nd – 26th and July 29th – August 1st.
