The Guyana Rastafarian Council will host its first ever Pre-Emancipation Reggae Fever Concert on Tuesday, July 31, at the Guyana Football Club Ground, promoting some of Guyana’s finest in the Reggae and Conscious Music arenas and creating a familiar ground between them and Guyanese fans.
The council hopes that this particular fever is contagious enough to have a show in Linden later this year and possibly in Essequibo, Linden and Corriverton, Berbice by next year.
Troy ‘Mario Kein’ Wright, one of the performing artistes said that many times the songs of artistes are being aired on the radio and while some persons may not know the actual name of the artiste, others may not realize the singer is Guyanese.
The show is expected to be performance packed as 24 artistes will be taking to the stage to entertain. The featured artiste of the night is Canada-based Guyanese Dellon Tappin. Others include: Abna, Alabama, I-Lambi, Fire Fred, Gad I, Natural One, Living Fire, Ila Man, Judah Star, Mountain Lion, Ne Qunicy, Fire Angel, Lava Nile, Fiya, Alien (Lance), King Cuffy, 007, Ras Nappy, Dollo, LickShot, Punch, Fyah Real and Mario Kein. There will also be three live bands: Forwarded By, HardStone Band and Foundation Band.
According to Mario Kein, he has his work cut out for him as after having entertained the crowd at the Pre-Emancipation Reggae Fever Concert, he will be performing again the following night for the actual Emancipation Show set for the National Park. He has been part of the Annual Emancipation Concert for the last 6 years and was last year awarded for that.
Late last year, he released 4 singles on YouTube: “Mama Stop Cry,” “Save the Poor and the Needy,” “Here I Come with the words of Wisdom” and “Pour Out Your Blessings On Me”. The four songs would have had their first airplay on 100.1 FM just yesterday. As part of the promotion of his music, he is giving away a free CD of the four songs with each ticket purchased from him.
Pre-Emancipation Reggae Fever tickets are $1,000 and $1,500 if purchased at the gate, with VIP costing $5,000. Tickets can be purchased from any of the artistes, or at the Guyana Rastafarian Council in Orange Walk. Persons can also contact Mario Kein on 698-3488 or Ras Leon Saul on 693-6035.
Tickets for the Emancipation Concert to follow on August 1, can be purchased at the gates for $1,000 each.
