The body of a 60-year-old man was yesterday found in a trench near to where he lived in Friendship, East Bank Demerara, the police said.
According to the police, the badly decomposed body of Vernon Jackson, who lived under a tree was found floating in a nearby trench yesterday morning around 9.
Jackson reportedly visited his cousin, Marilyn King, who also lives in Friendship, on Friday around 12 pm and was not seen after.
His body was noticed floating in a trench that runs east to west and is 15 feet wide and eight feet deep, south of the tree he lived under.
The police were alerted and Jackson’s decomposing body was pulled out shortly after and taken to the Lyken’s funeral home.
The police also noted that they questioned residents but did not get any useful information that would assist them in ascertaining what might have happened to the man.
