Following Adrian Hinds’ exemplary performance in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Inter-County Under-19 tournament, his local club, Transport and General Sports Club is throwing its support behind the young wicket-keeping/batsman.
Hinds who is due to depart with the Guyana team which will defend their one-day and three-day titles in St Vincent and the Grenadines, the management committee of the club headed by Ivor English, Vice Presidents Kenrick Fraser and Gladstone George, Secretary Abiola Craig, Assistant Secretary, Brian Galloway, Assistant Treasurer and Club Captain Shaun Massiah and committee member Richard Samuels, made a timely monetary donation to young Hinds.
“On behalf of all the members of Transport and General Sports Club, we, the management committee, would like to wish him all the best and trust that he would grasp this opportunity to showcase his talent and skills in helping Guyana to win and retain the title in both the three-day and 50 overs tournament. We urge him to be focussed and to think and perform to his best on and off the field,” said Massiah at the presentation.
“Thanks must go out to Dave Jaggernauth, Linden Fraser and Derrick Andre Edwards of the USA Tri State Team who made generous donations of cricket gear to Adrian,” Massiah added. Hinds joined the Carifesta Avenue based club in 2012 as an 11-year-old and played with passion and love in all the Georgetown Cricket Association Competitions including the under-15 level where he scored a brilliant 116 against the Demerara Cricket Club and 93 against Gandhi Youth Organisation. He also scored a brutal 90 at Everest in the under 17 T20 tournament.
The spirited youngster is also a talented wicketkeeper who ended with the most catches and stumpings in a recent u-19 tournament.
He has played for the club’s second-division team and has 10 caps at the first-class level including matches against the USA Tri State Team last year where Guyana National Under-19 coach, Julian Moore, was in charge.
Hinds has represented North Ruimveldt Multilateral, performing excellently with the bat, wicket-keeping gloves and as a left arm spinner.
Hinds, in response, thanked the club and the other supporters who have come on board to help him better his game stating that he will try his best to make them proud and represent Transport and Guyana well.
