Ahead of their 2018 HERO Caribbean Premier League (CPL) title hunt, the Guyana Amazon Warriors will play two warm up matches at Providence Stadium.
The first match is booked for 16:00h today while tomorrow will see the next encounter beginning from 18:00h.
According to a release from the team, the time of these matches were set in order to replicate the condition in which they will play.
With five matches for the Warriors booked at the venue these practice matches will condition them early to the ground especially the overseas players who never played at Providence while it will be handy if they make it to the playoffs which are also set for the ground.
Shoaib Malik who was recently appointed captain and Luke Ronchi both joined the team on Saturday and were part of the training session yesterday while Keemo Paul is still with the West Indies senior team.
According to Assistant Team Operations John Ramsingh, the Team Operations Manager, Omar Khan was in discussion with the local board to select some players.
The partnership was able to include nine players namely, Christopher Barnwell, Anthony Adams, Ronaldo Ali Mohammed, Clinton Pestano, Ramaal Lewis, Raun Johnson, Anthony Bramble and Robin Bacchus.
The matches will see players mixing with some of the leading first class players in the country as they give everyone an equal opportunity to find some form before their first match on Thursday.
Guyana will take on St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in their first match before playing St. Lucia Stars on Saturday.
