Armed bandits robbed a hire car driver of $450,000 in cash and valuables on Friday night, shortly after he returned to his La Grange, West Bank Demerara home.
Reshi Pasha, 41, was beaten during the robbery, which took place around 11.10 pm at Lot 3 Doctor Dam, La Grange.
He was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was treated and then discharged.
The three bandits, two of whom was armed with handguns, managed to escape with $250,000 in cash, a gold chain, a cell phone and a tablet.
Reshi lives with his mother, Dhanasewari Pasha, 65, at the Doctor Dam residence, which was also ransacked by the bandits.
The attack unfolded shortly after Reshi returned home and parked his car in the yard. He subsequently proceeded to his front door and he saw the bandits, who had their faces concealed with jerseys, walking towards him.
Out of fear for his life, Pasha ran to the back of his yard but he was pursued by two of the men. He tried to escape the duo by running around to the other side of the house, where he was confronted by their accomplice, who was armed.
The bandit dealt Pasha several blows to his face and at gunpoint demanded that he open the door.
However, it was Dhanasewari who opened the door after hearing the commotion. Two of the men then proceeded to ransack the house, as the other held Reshi at gunpoint
The men eventually made off with the cash and other items.
