Several multi-million dollar contracts under the Ministry of Agriculture for the procurement of equipment and excavation and dam construction works have been taken notice of by Cabinet, State Minister Joseph Harmon revealed last Monday.
During a post-Cabinet press briefing, Harmon disclosed that J R Ranch Inc. was awarded an additional $15 million for the excavation of drains and canals and the construction of access dams and hydraulic structures at Buxton. The original $120.2 million contract that was awarded to the company has now been increased to $135.3 million. Harmon did not reveal what led to the increase.
Meanwhile, a $54 million contract has been awarded to Macorp Inc. for the procurement of a new motor grader while Massy Industries was awarded a $36 million contract for the supply of two refrigerated trucks.
Additionally, a $17.1 million contract has been awarded to Gaico Construction and General Services for the supply and installation of block making machines and training beneficiaries in regions Four, Six, Nine and Ten.
A contract had been awarded to Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) for the docking and rehabilitation of the MV Makouria under the Transport and Habours Department, Ministry of Public Infrastructure at a cost of $69M.
Harmon informed that two contracts under the Ministry of Public Health have been awarded for the supply of janitorial supplies. The first which is worth $12.3M was awarded to Metro Office and Computer Supplies while the second, worth $31.9M was awarded to New GPC Inc.
The Consulting Group has been awarded a US$129, 006 (approximately 26 million Guyana dollars) contract for consultancy services to conduct a comprehensive study of security in indigenous communities.
