Following his brilliant showing at the Caribbean Basketball Confederation [CBC] Pre-Qualifiers, Guyana Captain Stanton Rose has secured a scholarship to attend Texas institution Jacksonville College
.Rose was Guyana’s standout player in their capture of the Caribbean title, in the process securing the tournament’s Most Valuable Player [MVP] accolade.
According to an official release from the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation [GABF], “Stanton Rose is Guyana’s youngest senior national captain. Mr. Rose is the first Guyanese player to score 41 points in a single game at the senior Caribbean
Championships 2018. He was awarded and has accepted a basketball scholarship to attend Jacksonville College in Texas. Stanton Rose will commence college semester from Monday 20th August 2018 and will, therefore, be departing this week.”
The release added, “Guyana Basketball Federation spent in excess of $20 Million for participation in the male and female CBC championships 2018. This undertaking was done with no financial assistance from our government nor the Guyana Olympic Association. Guyana Basketball Federation wishes to congratulate and thank Stanton Rose for his commitment and dedication to Guyana and we wish him further success in his life and basketball career.”
