Support for the second Guinness Cage Street-ball championships continue to increase with the ‘Give Another Chance Foundation’ becoming the latest sponsor to throw its weight behind the event, donating a large quantity of jerseys on Monday to the coordinators.
The Foundation, which is in its eight year of existence was setup mainly to provide another chance for lesser fortunate children, whose parents are either deceased or simply cannot afford to supply some of the basic necessities for the educational and other needs relevant to their development.
Three Peat Promotions’ Rawle Welch received the donation from the foundation’s Public Relations Officer, Sophia Dolphin.
Dolphin, during brief remarks, said the entity is always willing to extend help to any organization or individual that is in need of assistance.
According to Dolphin, several acts of goodwill have been conducted by the foundation which has sent students who could not afford to continue studies at the University of Guyana back to the institution. Similar undertakings were conducted at St. Cuthbert’s Mission.
She also revealed that the Foundation was scheduled to travel to Wakenaam on Sunday to present students with school supplies for the new term in an effort to ease the burden on those who cannot afford to purchase the necessary materials.
Welch, in brief remarks, thanked the Foundation for its gesture, declaring that the contribution speaks volumes of the entity’s commitment to assisting individuals and enterprises in need.
The tournament is being held to foster social cohesion and integration among competing communities. The tournament continues on Saturday at the Haslington Tarmac.
