The Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) is set to resume all of its cricket tournaments in the following weeks.
According to chairman of the GCA’s competition committee, Shaun Massiah, the GCA is prepared to resume its cricket competitions starting today.
Massiah said the GCA has its eye on the weather but according to schedule, the New Building Society (NBS) 40 overs second division tournament is expected to bowl off today with Everest Cricket Club hosting Transport and the V-Net Communications’ Under-13 competition seeing action between the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Bel Air Rubis at Muslim Youth Organisation, Woolford Avenue from 13:00h.
Massiah said that the rain was a factor to the start and continuation of the competition but said that with regular inspections, adequate notice will be provided on the way forward. Police are the leaders of the first-division competition with 64 points while Everest maintain a slim three-point lead over DCC with 45.

n Zone B, GNIC are the front runners with 62 points. The University of Guyana sits on 57, Transport has 43, Gandhi Youth Organisation, 36 and the Guyana Defence Force 24.
In the Noble House Seafood second division two-day tournament, Police also lead zone A with 102 points. Malteenoes is in second place with 77, UG (55), Ace Warriors (54), Sophia (44), GNIC (38) and the GDF (5) round off the group. In zone B- Everest are ahead on 99 points with Transport 97, DCC 92, GCC 47, GYO 70 and Diplomats 28 following.
The NBS second division 40-over; Zone A sees Police 116 topping the charts, while UG 108, TSC 83, MYO 56, Everest CC 57, Ace Warriors 52, Diplomats 22 and GDF 18 complete the group. Zone B sees GCC comfortably ahead with 118 points with DCC 79, 3rd Class 73, GYO 51, MSC 50, Sophia 41 and GNIC 41 in that order.
In the V Net Under 13 competition, DCC 40, Bel Air Rubis 23, TSC 14 are the leaders.
