Allamanda originated in the Caribbean and tropical Americas. It has several different varieties, which in turn have different common names.
It is a compact shrub or a semi-climber with showy trumpet-like flowers.
Pink Allamanda also known as Pink Buttercup should be grown in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. While it can be grown in partially shaded spots, it will not grow as well.
Allamanda is a drought-tolerant shrub, so it is low maintenance. However it should be kept well watered in the first few months after it is planted so that it can establish itself.
It needs pruning, but this is best done before any blooms appear.
Fertilize with Blue Corn Plant Food once per month and you will be rewarded with many blooms.
