The Guyana Police Force yesterday announced another shake-up in its leadership, including the appointments of a new Crime Chief and a new Traffic Chief.
The changes have come just days after Leslie James was appointed the new Police Commissioner, while Paul Williams, Nigel Hoppie, Lyndon Alves and Maxine Graham were appointed as Deputy Commissioners.
Guyana Police Force Public Relations Officer Jairam Ramlakhan yesterday announced several transfers, which he said took effect from yesterday.
Deputy Commissioners Williams, Alves, Hoppie and Graham now head the force’s Administration, Law Enforcement, Special Branch/Intelligence and Operations departments, respectively.
As a result, Alves, who was previously acting as Commander of ‘B’ Division (Berbice) for several months, is now Crime Chief. Prior to this, Williams was the country’s Crime Chief.
Graham was previously Second-in-Command of the force’s ‘Administrat-ion’ department and Hoppie was the Finance Officer.
Additionally, Assistant Commissioner Clifton Hicken, who previously headed ‘Operations,’ is now the Commander of ‘B’ Division. Hicken was once the head of ‘A’ Division.
James himself had been acting as ‘C’ Division Commander while Senior Superintendent Calvin Brutus was away. Brutus has returned from annual leave to resume command of the division.
As it relates to the Traffic Department, Superintendent Ramesh Ashram, who acted as Traffic Chief for several months, now heads Traffic in ‘A’ Division, while Dion Moore, the former Traffic Chief, is the Deputy Commander of ‘D’ Division.
The new Traffic Chief is Superintendent Linden Isles, a former Deputy Commander of ‘D’ Division.
