Regarded as a cornerstone and pioneer in Guyana’s infrastructural development, Courtney Benn Contracting Services joined the growing list of entities to support the second annual Guinness Cage Street-ball championships.
On Friday during a simple but significant presentation ceremony, the renowned entity presented a cheque for an undisclosed sum to tournament coordinator Rawle Welch of Three Peat Promotions.
According to a brief release from the company who are also synonymous with sport and youth development, there was no hesitation in arriving at a positive decision to support the event which is geared towards developing and improving relationships amongst the respective communities.
The correspondence added that the aim of fostering better understanding of the respective community cultures is a step in the right direction to ultimately achieving social cohesion.
Welch in his response thanked the establishment for its timely gesture, declaring that the support illustrates their continued committment to youth, sport and social development amongst the populace.
The tournament dubbed ‘The East Coast Best versus the Rest’ is being held at the Haslington Market Tarmac with the semi-finals and final set for Friday.
The semi-final matchups will pit home side Uprising against Broad Street, while Sparta Boss will take aim at fierce rival Leopold Street.
The victors of the aforesaid matches will face-off in the finale, with the losers relegated to the third place playoff.
