Heritage Art Exhibition

The Indigenous Heritage Art Exhibition, which was declared open on Thursday at the National Art Gallery, Castellani House,  showcases the works of debutante and veteran Indigenous artists, the Department of Public Information said.

CARICOM buyers set to dominate GUYTIE

Up to earlier this week regional business enterprises were significantly outnumbering those from North America, Europe and further afield that had accepted invitations to participate in the September 19-22 Guyana Trade and Investment Exhibition (GUYTIE) though the organizers of the event were mindful to tell Stabroek Business that the list of thirty-three potential buyers made available on Wednesday was unlikely to be exhaustive as far as overseas participation was concerned.

High-performing small enterprises can get business boost from Bureau

Local medium and small enterprises (MSE’s) registered with the Small Business Bureau (SBB) and which have “implemented solid standards” in the quality of their products and services and demonstrated service delivery excellence could find themselves listed by the Bureau as having qualified to be recommended to larger companies seeking to contract or sub-contract smaller companies to provide products and services.  The disclosure, made in a lengthy internal assessment of the eight-year-old state entity established under the 2004 Small Business Act and due to be published in The Guyana Review later this month says that qualifying small businesses will benefit from advertisements executed by the Bureau on behalf of those companies “to promote their services to the large enterprises.”

Recently, the President of Guyana, having consulted with the Leader of the Opposition, thereafter made a departure from the norm in naming a new Commissioner of Police who was not one of the more senior contenders, nor the acting Commissioner of Police.

Chilean exhibition

The “Mata ki rangi” (Eyes that look at the Sky) Chilean Craft Exhibition was launched at the National Museum on Wednesday evening, the Department of Public Information said Addressing the gathering, Chilean Ambassador to Guyana, Claudio Rojas said the show, which highlights the cultural and artisan heritage of Chile, is an opportunity to continue fostering ties between the two countries.
