Eagles clawed their way past Sonics 75-62 in their 1st Division matchup, when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association [GABA] League Championship continued on Saturday at the Burnham Court.
Travis Belgrave led the way with an impressive 31 points. He was supported by Ryan Gullen with 13 points, while Louis James was the next best scorer with 10 points.
Chipping in with six points each were Niko Fraser and Courtney Taylor. For the loser, Junior Lovell battled to 21 points, while the ever improving Joel Schultz netted 16 points.

Eagles secured the initial lead in the contest, as the first stanza ended 21-18. However, Sonics battled back in the second period, netting 18 points, while restricting Eagles to 14 points to enter the halftime interval ahead at 36-35.
The back and forth nature of the contest continued in the pivotal third stanza, with Eagles responding brilliantly by outscoring Sonics 23-16 to retake the lead at 58-52.
The win was then sealed in the final quarter, as Eagles tallied 15 points, while restricting Sonics to 10 points.
Meanwhile in the earlier 2nd Division clash, newcomer Vikings pillaged Sonics 69-59. Jeffrey Wilkinson amassed 20 points in the victory, with Shane Joseph the next best scorer with 18 points.
Leon Prescott, Leon Lee and Rawle Smith tallied seven, six, and six points respectively. For Sonics, Lemuel Grant shot his way to 17 points, while Denzil Logan supported with 15 points.
Assisting with eight points each were Troy Glasgow and Manasseh Murray. Up to press time, a doubleheader was being staged at the same venue.
