(TRINIDAD GUARDIAN) A construction executive and his common-law wife have been released on a total of $180,000 bail after appearing in court charged with firearm, ammunition and drug possession.
Marq Maurice and his common-law wife Camille Andrews were granted $100,000 and $80,000 bail respectively after they appeared before Magistrate Christine Charles in the Chaguanas Magistrate’s Court.
The couple was arrested at their John Peter Road, Charlieville, Chaguanas home on Saturday, after officers of the Central Division led by Sgt Matthew Haywood executed a search warrant and allegedly found the illegal items.
The couple was charged with possession of a 9mm Baretta pistol and 12 rounds of ammunition, as well as for a small quantity of marijuana recovered during the search.
Maurice was additionally charged for possession of two rounds of ammunition that was allegedly found in his vehicle.
They were not called upon to plead to the charges, which were laid indictably.
Maurice’s page on social networking website Linkedin states that he is a director of APAN Group Limited and the managing director of a construction company which bears his name.
The couple will reappear in court on October 8.
