Bingo Spartans are the 2018 Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) female Under – 19 champions after they completed a final round win over St. Joseph’s in action of the GHB Under-19 and Second Division Development League at the Saint Stanislaus College (SHC) ground on Carifesta Avenue yesterday.
Spartans hammered St Joseph’s 6-0 courtesy of a hat-trick off the stick of Sarah Klautky who netted in the third, 36th and 39th minute respectively.
A double strike from Abosaide Cadogan in the 27th and 38th minute also contributed to the triumph while Haley Carpenter’s 34th-minute strike past the upright completed the formality.
That win placed Spartans atop the points table with 18 points ahead of Saints, 10, St Joseph’s, four and GCC Her-ricanes who finished on three points. Meanwhile, Saints in their final match, defeated Herricanes 3-0 to end their campaign with a win.
In the boys Under – 19 action, Hikers defeated Old Fort 5-1 while GCC Pitbulls ripped Saints Sonics to shreds with a 7-0 win in a lopsided encounter.
Pitbulls in their second match on the day defeated Saints Splinters by a similar score line to underline a ruthless day on the pitch. Hikers also got the better of Splinters 3-0 to registers two wins, yesterday.
In men’s second division action, Bounty GCC eased past Hikers Cadets 3-1 while Old Fort and GCC The Sequel played to a 2-2 draw.
On Saturday, Pitbulls secured a 3-1 win over Old Fort in their boys Under – 19 matchup while Pizza Hut GCC hammered Old Fort 6-1 in the women’s second division courtesy of another Sarah Klautky hat-trick.
Saints Splinters, who played two matches on the day, went past Saints Sonics 2-1 while also defeating North Ruimveldt Multilateral 3-1. In other results St. Joseph’s Warriors edged Hikers 2-1 in the Under-19 division while Woodpecker Hikers had a 1-0 win over Saints in the women’s second division.
