Jamaica once again got the better of Guyana when this year’s Rugby America’s North (RAN) Championship final was staged yesterday in Barbados.
In a rematch of last year’s RAN Sevens, the Jamaica Crocs ran away with the championship with a 22-17 victory over the ‘Green Machine’.
Both teams had played undefeated during the two-day championships prior to the encounter.
En route to the final on Day 2, Guyana defeated the Dominican Republic 12-5 and Mexico 17-12. Jamaica turned back the challenges of the host (29-nil) and Bermuda (14-5).
Meanwhile, the local female outfit lost 20-5 versus Bahamas in the women’s plate semis and finished seventh.
Besides Jamaica, Mexico also repeated, winning the women’s final 15-10 versus Trinidad. The local outfits are scheduled to return today.
