Traditionally, when the calendar is nearing to flip to October, the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) readies itself to stage the Lennox Blackmore National Intermediate Championships.
This year will be no different.
According to GBA head, Steve Ninvalle, plans are on stream for another successful hosting of the event from October 5-7 at the National Gymnasium.
At the championships which has been dominated recently by the GDF gym, it is expected that there will be representation from Regions 1, 4, 6, 7, 8 9 and 10.
“All of those Regions will be represented at the National Intermediate” said Ninvalle yesterday.
Ninvalle further disclosed that bell time is 19:30hrs nightly and the championships will be a precursor to the flagship National Open Championships in November and the Caribbean Championships a month later.
“This will lead into the National Open which will be held in mid November and from the National Open, we will select a team to go into encampment for the Caribbean Championships slated to be held here from December 6-9.”
According to Ninvalle, 15 fights are carded for opening night.
