Pouderoyen earned their semi-final berth in the Limacol Football Championship, defeating Mahaica Determinators 2-1 yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Kacy John opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 17th minute, following a wild challenge on Dwayne St. Kitts.
The dapper forward sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, converting his effort into the right corner. St. Kitts then doubled his side’s lead in the 38th minute, following another penalty kick conversion.
The diminutive midfielder uncorked a powerful right-foot effort, which struck the right upright and settled into the back of the net, giving the goalkeeper no chance.
The East Coast Demerara unit eventually pulled one back in the 59th minute, as Delon Charles netted. The wily attacker slotted his effort into the back of the net, after racing onto a cross from the right side of the field.
However, the Pouderoyen rearguard held firm in the remaining minutes to seal their place in the final four. Up to press time, Santos was slated to battle Buxton Stars from 20:00hrs.
The resulting winners will face-off in the semi-final round penciled for September 30th, with the grand finale scheduled for November 5th.
