Hanging baskets make a lovely display on your patio or around your house.
Before you decide to use them, however, you must select the type of plants you would like to grow in your hanging baskets. You can choose plants that can grow in full sun or semi-shade, depending on where you will locate the baskets.
Many people use ferns and the most popular ferns for hanging baskets are Toyo (Breadfruit) and Rabbit Foot, which grow around and fill out the baskets nicely. Two others that can be used are the Asparagus and Boston ferns.
If you are looking to put flowering plants in your hanging baskets, some good choices would be Fire Cracker, Dwarf Bougainvillea, Dwarf Buttercups, Flame Violet or Petunia; all of these flowers are bright and cheery.
Last, but not least, you could always buy the ready-made baskets with the plants inside.
Hanging baskets are easy to care for. Just make sure to give them a good drink of water once per day and fertilize them once per a week with Miracle Gro All Purpose Plant Food.
Until next week, Happy Gardening.
